A simple timeline to show how dramatic this was: > Late 2022: Aptos launches mainnet with roughly $30M in stablecoins basically negligible. > Throughout 2023: Slow, steady usage hovering around $40–50M, still under the radar. > Early 2024: Stablecoin supply barely moved, still below $50M. > Early 2025: First real breakout moment supply jumps to ~$628M. > Early 2026: Stablecoins reach $1.82B, nearly tripling in a single year. Why I think Aptos managed to pull this off: > Ultra low fees + speed: ~$0.00003 for a $200 transfer and ~50ms blocks made Aptos one of the cheapest, smoothest rails for P2P stables. > Institutional confidence: BlackRock added $500M to BUIDL (Aptos now #2 after Ethereum). PACT và KAIO brought private credit & RWAs onchain real capital choosing Aptos for settlement. > Reliable tech stack: Move + parallel execution kept performance predictable, with fewer congestion issues as volume scaled. > Low friction access: Zero or near zero fee exchange bridges made moving stables in and out easy. > Financial focus over hype: Less memes, less gaming spikes more payments and transfers. Slower growth, but much stickier. Compared to larger ecosystems, Aptos started from almost nothing but grew faster in relative terms. Solana still dominates raw volume, but Aptos steadily carved out a niche as a clean, efficient stablecoin settlement layer. I predict that if this momentum continues with institutional inflows, RWAs scaling, and upcoming upgrades like MonoMove Aptos reaching a $4-6B stablecoin market cap by the end of 2026 is entirely realistic.
