Jupiter this morning.

Saturn was 8° above the horizon as the Moon was about to occult it this morning. Simply too much atmosphere in the way to resolve any details on its disc. But I’m still pretty pleased I was able to get it at all!

Europa shadow transit. GRS rising on the western edge. Shortly after this, the seeing fell apart, and it clouded over.

Saturn FINALLY cooperated on Opposition Day. Hints of the Cassini Division and the Seelinger Effect (the brightening of the rings during opposition) in full bloom.

Still working on the best image, but when I was going through them, I realized that I had enough to do a quick animation. This represents 24 minutes of Jupiter rotation.

Io shadow transit. Autocorrect makes me crazy some days!!

First zip shadow transit of the season for me. Unfortunately, the seeing didn’t cooperate as much as I had hoped!

Clear skies on a day off.

Saturn before work this morning.

A massive sunspot, centred on the disc of the Sun.

Afternoon off. Clear skies.

Saturn and its largest moon, Titan. The seeing was underwhelming, but better than clouds!

Early next Spring, we pass through the plane of Saturn’s rings. They are getting extremely thin now…
