The KUJI -> RUJI merge (rujihub.com/introduction-t…) may seem complicated, but here's a quick Under-the-Hood why it's designed this way. KUJI is on it's own Kujira blockchain. THORChain (TC) has no knowledge of the Kujira blockchain. TC is also not IBC-connected (yet). But TC is integrated with GAIA (ATOM); i.e. TC nodes run daemons for Gaia blockchain. And Gaia is connected to Kujira via IBC. Hence, the steps: 1- Use IBC to bridge KUJI.KUJI -> GAIA.KUJI (this step needs some KUJI.KUJI for gas). 2- Deposit GAIA.KUJI into TC as THOR.KUJI (this step needs some GAIA.ATOM for gas). 3- Deposit THOR.KUJI into the RUJI merge contract (this step needs some THOR.RUNE for gas). 4- In near future, once THOR.RUJI TGE is executed, users can then withdraw THOR.RUJI from the RUJI merge contract (this step needs some THOR.RUNE for gas).
