How many Laravel helpers are you using that you found by accident rather than from the docs? My guess is most of them. The framework is big, and the docs are long, so a lot of it just never comes up until someone drops a method name in a PR comment. #PHP #Laravel #PHPDev

@tahiriqbalnajam But not doing the per job write has a cost - not acquiring/checking unique locks, so choose wisely. We’ve build skystan to prevent accidentally dispatching unique jobs in bulk (or forgetting to define TTL for the uniqueness lock)

Our first PR to Laravel Horizon got merged. What else should we contribute?

Shipped some improvements to the job deletion and logging. Logging is something that you can’t see on the demo though, so added a section to the web site pulling the live log

Which log do you prefer?

In Laravel, clearing the queue will not remove the unique locks held by the jobs in the queue. That’s exactly why you need to always specify the uniqueFor for the jobs - otherwise one artisan queue:clear and then jobs might never hit the queue and be silently discarded instead

@danielkleach @MicroLaunchHQ Got that - our “marketing” is also a waitlist, but how do you make people aware of its existence. Do you market a waitlist the same way you’d market the product itself 🤔

@BoringO11y @MicroLaunchHQ "A waitlist" as in a marketing site for my new SaaS app. Allowing people to sign up and get notified as soon as it is live. Gives founders a chance to be seen first.

Canceling a batch in Laravel is one line. Making sure your jobs actually respect that cancellation is the real work.

@neerajjj6785 People haven’t figured out yet that UUID v7 largely solves the insertion problem (and the ordering one) by having the timestamp as the beginning of each id. Or were designed before v7 was a thing

Interviewer : If UUIDs are globally unique... why do some large-scale systems still prefer auto-incrementing IDs for their primary keys?
