The Walkathon exercise commenced from the Borno State Police Command Headquarters, proceeded through major routes up to Kofan Shehu, and terminated back at the Command Headquarters. 3. The event witnessed active participation from officers and men of the Command, community stakeholders, and members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), reflecting a shared commitment towards fostering collaboration between the Police and the public. 4. Speaking during the exercise, the Commissioner of Police emphasized the importance of community engagement in effective policing, noting that sustainable peace and security can only be achieved through mutual trust, cooperation, and collective responsibility. PRESS RELEASE 2026 NATIONAL POLICE DAY: BORNO POLICE COMMAND EMBARK ON SANITATION AND FREE MEDICAL OUTREACH The Borno State Police Command has commenced activities marking the 2026 National Police Day with a sanitation exercise and free medical outreach aimed at promoting public health, environmental cleanliness, and strengthening community relations. 2. The exercise Led by the Commissioner of Police Borno State Command, CP Naziru Abdulmajid psc, took place at Kofa Biyu/Monday Market axis of Maiduguri, witnessed active participation of police officers, medical personnel, and members of the community. The sanitation activity focused on clearing waste, improving hygiene, and enhancing the general outlook of the environment, while the medical outreach spearheaded by the Command AC Medical, ACP Dr Akeem Kadir provided free basic healthcare services to residents, including consultations and treatment. 3. Speaking on the initiative, the Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, psc, noted that the exercise underscores the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to community-oriented policing and its role beyond crime prevention to include humanitarian services and public wellbeing. 4. BORNO STATE POLICE COMMAND PRESS RELEASE CP NAZIRU ABDULMAJID VISITS ONGOING POLICE RECRUITMENT SCREENING, COMMENDS PROCESS The Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command, CP Naziru Abdulmajid today 25th March, 2026, visited the ongoing Police recruitment screening exercise in the State Command HQ and expressed satisfaction with the level of organization, transparency, and professionalism exhibited throughout the process. 2. During the visit, the CP inspected the screening procedures and interacted with officials and candidates. He commended the screening team for adhering strictly to laid down guidelines and ensuring a credible and hitch-free exercise. 3. The CP particularly acknowledged the efforts of officials, including representatives of the Police Service Commission and delegated senior officers from the Force Headquarters (FHQ), for their professionalism and commitment to due process. 4. It would be recalled that the screening exercise for commenced on 9th March, 2026, and is scheduled to conclude on 18th April, 2026. As of 25th March, 2026, a total of 5,016 candidates have participated in the exercise. 5. The Commissioner of Police emphasized the importance of maintaining the highest standards of integrity, fairness, and transparency throughout the screening process. PRESS RELEASE EID-EL-FITR: BORNO POLICE COMMAND DEPLOYS ROBUST SECURITY ARCHITECTURE FOR PEACEFUL CELEBRATION, RESTRICT MOVEMENT FOR KEKENAPEP The Borno State Police Command extends warm felicitations to the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of Eid el-Fitr, marking the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan. In furtherance of its constitutional mandate to protect lives and property, the Command has emplaced a comprehensive security architecture to ensure a peaceful, safe, and hitch-free Eid celebration across the State. As part of these measures, the Command hereby announces the restriction on the movement of tricycles (Keke Napep) from 6am to 12pm on 20/03/2026. This directive is aimed at enhancing security coordination, ease crowd management, and prevent any potential security threats. Members of the public are enjoined to comply strictly. The Command also advises worshippers to observe Eid prayers at designated grounds closest to their residences, to minimize movement and avoid overcrowding. To ensure effective security coverage, the Command, in synergy with other security agencies, has deployed adequate personnel to Eid prayer grounds, markets, motor parks, and other vulnerable points for crowd control, access regulation, traffic management, and general security surveillance. In addition, operatives of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit have been strategically positioned at major gathering points to conduct thorough screening and scanning of all persons and items entering designated venues, as part of proactive measures to forestall any untoward incidents. The Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid psc, has directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Commanders, Intelligence and surveillance operatives to intensify visibility policing, intelligence-led operations, and sustained patrols throughout the festive period, while upholding professionalism and respect for fundamental human rights. PRESS RELEASE BORNO POLICE COMMAND CONDEMNS ATTACK IN KONDUGA, INTENSIFIES OPERATIONS WITH SECURITY AGENCIES AND COMMUNITY STAKEHOLDERS The Borno State Police Command condemned the recent attack on a nomadic settlement at Wuturo, Konduga Local Government Area, allegedly carried out by suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists. 2. Following a report received by Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association Konduga at Konduga Police Division, that on 10th March, 2026 at about 2230hrs, unknown gunmen riding on five motorcycles invaded the settlement. 3. Preliminary investigations revealed that during the attack, 1. Ahmadu Baida 40yrs sustained fatal gunshot injuries, while 2. Mohammadu Baida 30yrs sustained a gunshot wound on his left leg. The attackers also rustled about one thousand four hundred (1,400) sheep belonging to the herdsmen. 4. Upon receipt of the report, a combined team of the Police, Military, and other security stakeholders including the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and local hunters, led by the Divisional Police Officer Konduga, swiftly mobilized to the scene. The victims were evacuated to the Hospital, where Ahmadu Baida was certified dead on arrival by a medical doctor, while the injured victim is currently receiving treatment and responding positively. 5. In response to the incident, and following the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, psc, the Command has activated coordinated operational strategies with relevant security agencies and community stakeholders to track down the perpetrators, prevent further attacks, and recover the rustled livestock. Tactical and intelligence assets have also been strategically deployed across the affected area and adjoining communities to strengthen security presence. 6. The Borno State Police Command commiserates with the family of the deceased and assures residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state. NIGERIA POLICE FORCE HOLDS PULL-OUT PARADE IN HONOUR OF FORMER IGP EGBETOKUN The Nigeria Police Force today held a ceremonial Pull-Out Parade at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, in honour of the immediate past Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun (rtd), PhD., NPM, marking the formal conclusion of his distinguished policing career spanning over three and a half decades. The colourful parade celebrated the remarkable service and leadership of the former IGP, who retired from active duty on 25th February 2026 after 36 years of dedicated service to the Nigeria Police Force and the nation. In his remarks, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM described the ceremony as a significant moment for the Nigeria Police Force, noting that the career of the retired IGP was defined by dedication, professionalism, and exemplary leadership. He highlighted the former IGP’s contributions to strengthening operational efficiency, promoting intelligence-led policing, enhancing professionalism, and reinforcing the institutional values of discipline, accountability, and service within the Force. On behalf of the officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, he expressed profound appreciation for the retired IGP’s outstanding service and invaluable contributions to policing in Nigeria. In his farewell address, the retired IGP, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the nation through the Nigeria Police Force for thirty-six years. Reflecting on his tenure, he noted that deliberate efforts were made to strengthen institutional processes, expand operational capabilities, and enhance professionalism across the Force.
