By design (a tampon sits in the vagina for HOURS collecting menstruation) it will be a bacterial infection risk even if it was sterilised prior to insertion. This is why there are TSS warnings on tampons.

Also one thing that you should know is mucosa is not a very good barrier and infections can get through. So it doesn’t sound really safe to put something unsterilised into your body
