Really love the fast update. Wanted to add a few things worth considering though👇
For many people, NFTs are identities; some hold utility, but they are not just digital items being traded. So transaction count alone can be misleading. For example, 50% of Ruyui supply is staked. That doesn't show up as volume, but those are some of our most committed holders.
I get that the onchain metrics should definitely be checked. But there can be other signals too.
Just a few random things off the top of my head:
- Fugz and Bearish have been proliferating their IP through GIPHY hard.
- Gigaverse is growing as a gaming IP with its socials blooming.
- We're building Roots of Embervault and venturing into new areas soon, and holders will have in-game utilities soon.
None of the above shows up as raw onchain transactions, but all of it brings real value to the chain they build on.
Imo, the value of an NFT or its community should not be limited to on-chain presence alone. Because NFTs were never "just about" transactions.
95% of CT has an NFT PFP, not because they're trading every day or the collection has massive daily volume, but because they like it, they want to support that IP, and they belong there.
When someone sees our episodic content, a Fugz gif, or a Noob short, that returns as a plus to the chain.
Might be baby steps today, but more and more tomorrow.
And I'm genuinely saying this for everyone building here, not just us.
Things like staking activity, holder retention, utility, social growth, and content reach should all be part of the picture imo.

Since you guys keep QTing this post, I'll address some points here: - We made slight adjustments to the XP given to top NFT collections (by onchain activity, volume, market cap). We updated the calculation for many of the longtail collections because we received many reports of people mass holding super cheap NFTs to farm large amounts of XP. NFT projects that are no longer active were diluting the rewards for active NFT builders - this is not the behavior we want. - We will introduce a more dynamic system for NFT holdings designed to reward the most active collections starting next week. This system will adjust week by week and look at trading volume + onchain activity + overall ecosystem participation (ex. building interesting apps with your IP). - For memecoin holdings, we were basing the XP given based off of inflated trading volume and price data. A lot of this was done to soften the blow from the steep price decreases seen throughout crypto since October. We have since updated our internal values to be up to date which resulted in a decrease in memecoin XP. Starting next week, we will ramp up the XP given to memecoin teams actively building their IP and growing their holder base. - As communicated to our app builders previously, there will be an influx of XP given to teams creating onchain usecases, onboarding new users to Abstract, and building innovative mechanics. Several of these teams will be launching new apps and mechanics in the coming weeks. - We originally didn't want to change the calculation for holdings too much, which is why I tweeted the below tweet 3 weeks ago. However, after doing a deep dive into the XP distributed to inactive projects as well as going through the reports our community had flagged to us about XP abuse, we had to make changes to better reward those that are still active onchain participants in the ecosystem.

I’m hyped to see everyone getting their XP, and I’m also hyped about building on Abstract, but building full time, improving our tools, perfecting things, and shipping… that doesn’t give me XP, so it’s a little less hype for me HAHA (it’s better than 0 tho) 😅🔥

@ProofOfEly I think they simply gave too much to NFT holders , they were getting 200,000 XP every week, while others who were actually very active didn’t even come close to 100,000 XP. Rebalancing was definitely needed, but maybe they reduced it a bit too much👌
