An honour to observe Remembrance Sunday at the Cenotaph on Whitehall today. The programme being handed out says repeatedly to pray for the dead; to pray for those who sacrificed their lives; pray for those bereaving; pray for those suffering; pray for peace; pray that we may be worthy of the sacrifice made on our behalf. The Lord Bishop of London offered prayer, followed by a Christian hymn, followed by another prayer. Finally it is instructed: "All present are requested to say The Lord's Prayer". Tell me again we are just "culturally Christian".
