May the Fourth Be With You!! What started as a clever pun has grown into an unofficial holiday honoring the beloved sci-fi saga — complete with movie marathons, cosplay, and plenty of nods to the Force. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or just enjoy the cultural phenomenon, it’s a day to embrace a little adventure, heroism, and galaxy-spanning fun. But where did it come from? While there are several sources of when the phrase was first used, Star Wars' official site referenced 1978, one year after the release of Star Wars: A New Hope. "That summer of ’78, clever newspaper writers used the phrase as a gimmick to mark Independence Day celebrations on the Fourth of July." "As recently as 2005, it was used once again in context with the American Fourth of July holiday. Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith had been released weeks earlier, and a marketing push to bring audiences back to theaters inspired a unique newspaper ad sporting Yoda, a background of red-white-and-blue fireworks, and 'May the Fourth Be With You.'" Along with several other instances where May the Fourth Be With You was used, it's easy to see how today marks the wonderful celebration of such an incredible franchise.

@HarkRebSpiceWar To each their own! I don’t mind buying early access games, I’m too excited to wait. And I bet they’ll release a physical copy when it (hopefully, eventually) makes it to switch. Tho it’s not confirmed

Everyone has that one 100+ hour game. 🎮 What’s yours? No judgment… unless it’s your 12th playthrough.

@AnOddMetroid @Pirat_Nation true, im just making assumptions! while not saying everything i come across is accurate, an account, NikTek, had screenshots of PlayStation Support confirming that the timer would be constant. to me, it seems like backpedaling because of that.

Sony has clarified that digital PlayStation games only need a one-time online check to confirm ownership after purchase. No ongoing or recurring verifications are required. @deforl completely agree with all of this. i think they realized a lot of people were angry about a constant timer and are backpedaling. and it brings back the question of, do you truly have ownership of digital media? anymore, it doesnt seem so

@BoundingComics Yeah... somehow I doubt that was the initial intention. Otherwise they would have immediately said so. I think they were just testing the waters. And still, the check is done on buying the game, you do not need it again to run it.

It didn't take long for PlayStation to clarify its new policy. Sony has come back to reassure players, saying that games only need a one-time online check to confirm ownership after purchase. "Players can continue to access and play their purchased games as usual. A one-time online check is required to confirm the game's license, after which no further check-ins are required."
