@upmanyu_agn I hope you don't marry a woman and end your lineage. Your lineage is not worthy of being continued.

@cessonmute I don’t understand this picture. Remove “wife” and you basically are left with what every adult has to deal with. I’m confused.. are men struggling with every day adulting duties???

Marriage apparently “ruins” men, yet statistics consistently show married men live longer, are healthier, and benefit more emotionally and financially from marriage than women do.

Men on the internet keep giving lectures about virginity, as if nothing else matters. According to them girls should stay pure but if they themselves sleep around with dozens of people, somehow that’s still considered justified.

Hindu men becoming more conservative and misogynistic is pushing Hindu women towards the left. The more time I spend on the ground and interact with the younger generation, the more I feel this is true. Men need to address dowry and r@pe issues, while women need to address false or excessive alimony claims, fake r@pe cases, and the social pressure on men to be highly successful, well-settled, and financially rich before marriage. Our gods, warriors, and freedom fighters were among the most liberal and progressive. I don’t know what is making us so conservative today.

@vayunandini No matter how educated you are You'll have to care for your in laws Else you'll be replaced because it's your gender role Also alimony is rarely awarded on ground but you won't get the dowry your father gave saving for you since your childhood

A court just told Indian women that serving your mother-in-law is not an expectation, not a tradition, not a request, it is an obligation. Baked into culture. Protected by law. And asking for your own home, your own space, your own life, that is unreasonable. Let that sit for a moment. A woman can be educated, earning, capable and independent and the highest court of a state will still look her in the eye and tell her that her primary duty is to a household she did not choose, to a woman she did not grow up with, in a home where she has no authority but all the responsibility. She is expected to serve. She is not expected to be served. Ever. This is not culture. Culture is food and language and festivals and music. This is labor. Unpaid, unacknowledged, court sanctioned labor. And when she resists it, she is not a woman asserting her dignity. She is apparently being unreasonable. The most telling part is what the court did not say. It did not say the husband must care for his parents. It did not say the son has an obligation. It skipped straight to the wife. Because in India, care work has a gender and that gender has no choice. A girl survives being born. Survives childhood. Gets educated. Gets married. And then a court tells her the finish line was never freedom. It was just a different kind of servitude with a sindoor on top.

I often see posts mocking women... how a man earning 20 LPA lives “like trash,” while a woman earning 8 LPA lives in a posh area or spends more on comfort. What people miss is that for many women, these are not luxury expenses... they are safety expenses. We often cannot: • rely on unsafe public transport late at night • stay in isolated cheap accommodations • casually compromise on food hygiene • risk being alone and vulnerable while sick • ignore safety while choosing where to live Many women spend extra simply to feel secure enough to function. A woman earning less may still need to spend more.... not for status, but for survival, safety, accessibility, and peace of mind. Men pay for comfort. Women pay to reduce risk. Those are not the same thing.

Offering clarity about her past has resulted in the death of a woman which is in the news these days, and has resulted in shaming of countless other women around us. Personal sharing is conditional to it being received with dignity and trust. It is not unconditional sharing, like some mandatory information you owe to anyone!
