Breslow hate is nearly 100% the product of certain media members being close personally or having close sources with guys who were influential under bloom that Breslow had no time for, Alex Cora and/or Alex Bregman. Nearly all the people complaining are carrying water for them

The return for him won’t be great, that’s why you get a good return with guys like chapman, gray, or even whitlock.

We’re now moving away from his algorithm and going back to human scouts, but sure, the players he brought in have done well.

@fenwaypark Last game I went to was last year against the Yankees when we traded Dever’s on the same day we swept them. Best ballpark in America, don’t get me wrong, but I’m not going to Fenway until John’s either sold the team or has shown me my money is being put towards actual talent.

@DanBFox1287 In short, if we’re evaluating players with scouts now for this deadline, why should we trust Bres, the one who tried to get rid of them, to make these calls?

@DanBFox1287 3/ I just know Bres thought his algorithm could paint a better picture of a player’s profile/potential than any scout could, which is why he overvalue our players in trades. But just look now, the sox are now sending scouts to MLB games, when before they would 1 game/week.

The more I think about, the more I am leaning towards the idea that Breslow should keep his job, at least until the end of the season where we can really see the whole picture. Totally understand the other side, and willing to hear out the (good faith) arguments. I just don’t view his actions as the biggest reason for the season going the way it has. He brought in the right guys. Suarez, Gray, Contreras, and now Durbin. Much of what has gone wrong has been out of his control, whether it’s injuries to star players or established players self-imploding. As far as the front office being “the laughingstock of baseball” and all that other slop Red Sox Stats posts about 24/7…. I’m not really sure about that. Clearly they are doing something right if the pitching is as good as it is, which is his forte. It’s possible to disagree with some of the things he does or philosophies he has (which I have been clear about) without calling for his head. Firing him now would do little more than give a scapegoat to an angry fanbase instead of making real change. Right now, the biggest priority is getting guys healthy, clearing out some of the toxicity, and seeing where we’re at. Once we get a full picture, then we can make the assessment of whether he is the right man for the job.
