We are learning about the letter Aa and Ss! Today we experimented with shaving cream and got to write our letters! Of course we had to free write as well with the shaving cream! 😊 Happy Tuesday!!! (There were many smiles under those masks!)@bonnertylerisd

There are only a few days left of school, but this bee is still busy working at home. I love getting pictures of my bees working! 😊@Tylerisdlearn

@EwingLearning Homework is not effective, because it creates boredom for young children and children feel that it is just more "work." I think that engaging students in fun games while in the classroom would be more effective than homework. Let the students rest once they get home.

@EwingLearning I immediately felt left out when you started speaking Spanish! Experiencing this did make me realize that emergent bilinguals probably feel the same way when only taught in English, especially if they have a hard time understanding.

How did you feel when I taught you a division lesson in Spanish? How might emergent bilinguals feel in monolingual classes?

@EwingLearning We should use the term "emergent bilingual" rather than ELLs, because emergent bilingual seems as if students are moving towards learning a new language while still valuing their own. ELL sounds as if students are learning English to neglect their own language.
