Curious to hear how AP students felt about the quality of the instruction their teachers delivered, we surveyed AP students worldwide last summer. Across subjects, students gave their teachers very high marks for instructional quality. But of course, students rated some subjects higher than others. Top of the list: AP Latin teachers. And they’ve been markedly unsurprised by their #1 ranking for instructional quality. A common response: “Of course our lessons are terrific. How else do you think we can keep students taking Latin year after year in order to make it to the AP level?” So kudos to AP Latin teachers worldwide, for the time and care you put into the design of engaging, effective instruction, something that is clearly recognized by the students you serve. Other subjects that received especially high AP student ratings for instructional quality, in alphabetical order, were: AP Calculus, AP European History, AP Spanish Literature, and AP US History.
