Man.. Love Kyle but I dont agree. Thats part of the lore of Cup racing. The physical and mental toll it inflicts on those who choose to chase its rewards.
Theres something different about that last 25% of a Cup race that separates it from Oreily and trucks

@markmartin Favorite driver from when I was a kid speaking TRUTH. I sometimes find myself thinking some of these races are way too short, and I mean that seriously.

Speaking the truth. Let NASCAR be what it is and not what someone else thinks would grow it. Just don’t ruin the sport for the ones who already love and support it.

The younger sports fan seems not to resonate with NASCAR in general, regardless of the race length, Pete. They sliced 100+ miles off of gobs of races several years back; if fans wanted shorter races, wouldn't that have led to a surge in viewership? Wouldn't the move to cut race distances have kept the tracks from having to remove seats from the stands? Every time we're told "this change will allow us to bring in casual sports fans," the end result is a smaller overall fanbase. Stop chasing, and be unapologetically NASCAR. Hell yeah.

“Races are too long. We should shorten the distance” Brother, right now I’m sitting through 10 minutes of fat-loss injection commercials while the cars crawl around the track at 60MPH. Just open your eyes. It’s really, really not that challenging

@JaymoACP @Megafrayder2 It also doesn’t help to constantly be switching networks. I’m fortunate my watering hole lets me take the remote. No bartender is gonna dick with a bar remote bouncing through umpteen different channels only to find out it’s on prime (fortunate we have that primr sports channel)

It’s baffling to me that people are talking about this instead of the fact that the younger audience DOESNT HAVE CABLE!
Could be a 10 minute race or a 10 hour race….they. Don’t. Have. The. Ability. To. Watch. It.
Nascars audience is so old because people over the age of 65 have cable tv more than people under 40 by orders of magnitude.

The equivalent of this for NASCAR would be eliminating stage cautions/shortening caution periods, not shortening race distance
