watching the ai agent ecosystem grow is wild
agents that orchestrate other agents. skills managing prompts. models debating each other.
are people actually using all this complexity or is it just fun to build?

been shifting how i use ai for coding over the last few months
my workflow now:
- prototype on deepseek or gemini flash
- switch to claude or gpt-5.5 when stuck
- ship the same day if it fits in one session
the model matters less than the rhythm

the solo founder narrative is getting romanticized.
what nobody posts:
-the 3 products before it that went nowhere.
-the 12 hour days
-the api bill that made you reconsider everything.
building solo is real. but its not

been shipping with these tools for months. i know it changed how i build. but how do you actually measure it?
is it just vibes for everyone or does someone have a system?

We have, as far as I can tell, no good tests of the productivity impact of the autonomous coding tools that appeared starting in December 2025. Every paper out there is from prior to the Claude Code/Codex revolution. A huge gap in our knowledge about what is happening in coding.

google is running a 5-day intensive vibe coding course.
vibe coding. taught by google.for 5 days. we went from learn to code to vibe to code in one generation.

someone messaged me yesterday asking if i supported a model they wanted to use.
i added it this morning.
took longer to reply to their email than to ship the integration.
thats the solo dev thing. no process to get in the way.

ai gets you a working prototype in 20 minutes now.
the next 3 weeks figuring out if anyone actually wants it are still on you.
that part didnt change. i dont think it will.

without it id ship the minimal thing. now i chase the full vision.

from running mykey i see this. people ask for deepseek or claude. nobody says the company name.
the model is the brand now. the company is just how you access the api.

the more you use ai the easier it is to see it in other peoples work.
i see it in code too.

A lot of the emails I get from founders are now written in a hard-hitting journalistic style. I know they're written by AI, because no founder ever wrote this way before. And once you realize something is written by AI, it's hard not to ignore it.

@trikcode i think most people just haven't tried. they assume switching takes effort and $20 is easier than finding out.

@nezbuilds building mykey.chat ,bring your own api key, use any model. was tired of bouncing between 4 ai tabs so i made a single place for it.

"just ship it" leaves out what happens after:
you launch.
nothing for days. you wonder if anyone saw it.
then one person signs up. or a bug report becomes a conversation.
the real build starts after you ship. that takes longer than building did.
