I think you’re partly responsible for what happened in Edinburgh. Just a week after that post went viral claiming Muslim men had raped over 250,000 women in the UK, this guy carried out those attacks and you could hear him in the video saying he was “protecting the country from Muslims.” It really feels like your post emboldened him and others who were already angry. That said, I get that people are furious about the grooming gangs scandal. Those cases are horrific, and the failures to stop them for years were shameful. But painting it as a blanket “Muslim men” problem risks inflaming tensions and leading to exactly this kind of random violence against innocent people. For perspective, the overall rape statistics in the UK still show that the vast majority of convicted sex offenders are white British men around 80% or more in the broader data, simply because they make up the large majority of the population. The grooming gang cases are a specific, organized pattern that deserves real scrutiny and justice, but we shouldn’t let that turn into collective blame on an entire community. At the end of the day, violence is violence. We should condemn it outright whether it’s grooming and rape, or street attacks on random Muslims without always tying it straight back to race or religion. That just makes everything worse.

Distant security footage has been released of Karmelo defending himself from Austin Metcalf attacking him. As you can see in the video, Karmelo was surrounded under the tent with no way to escape. As Austin was standing over Karmelo attacking him, Karmelo neutralized the threat using self defense, and Karmelo had to run UP the stairs to escape further danger because he was boxed in from running DOWN the stairs. This is CLEARLY self defense
