@riley_stefani Dude, what I'm saying is the story ISN'T that complex and if people didn't get it they probably didn't pay attention. I don't care about backrooms stuff, if people don't like the movie that's fine, but the story is pretty straightforward and isn't that hard to digest

I think it's interesting that a lot of Backrooms truthers always instantly go "you didn't UNDERSTAND it" as if it's such an amazingly intelligent piece that anyone who just plain didn't like it just couldn't comprehend it. It's not that deep/intimidating of a film/concept.
Gubb@BrainDamageReal

I feel like the reason a lot of people struggle to understand the backrooms movie or dislike it is because their attention spans are fried from social media. It has a cohesive story, you just have to pay attention lol

@toker_lee I'm talking about people who say it's some complex incomprehensible story or that there isn't a story to begin with. I didn't say "this story is amazing and everyone should like it"

@olddogafternoon It's definitely not a flawless masterpiece but it's enjoyable and does what it's trying to do pretty well in my opinion. A slower pace that's a bit jarring in one or two scenes but besides that it's really entertaining too

@CSmoothjazz Oh yeah totally. I'm just complaining about the people that say backrooms had no story or was too complex or whatever. Even saw a few people complain it wasn't like the backrooms roblox games 😭

@BrainDamageReal Haven't seen Obsession yet but it seems like the kind of movie that would have more mass appeal. I love weird stuff like Backrooms but it won't be everyone's cup of tea.

@undericio @LorX0X That's completely fair! I personally really like slow psychological stuff that's a little abstract so that's probably why I enjoyed it so much

@BrainDamageReal @LorX0X honestly i think my issue with it more so has to do with what kind of horror movie i prefer, i went into it expecting/hoping for something very different than what i got. i’m not a huge fan of psychological horror but i saw posts about the movie everywhere so i had to see it!

@DJWolfBot For me I pieced together Clark's story kinda quickly but with Mary's I had to think for a while cause her flashbacks kinda came out of nowhere? Now I think I get it but still, could've shaved off some of Clark's "walking aimlessly" scenes to give Mary's story some room to breathe

@BrainDamageReal Holy shit I thought I was the only one. Parts of Mary's backstory and her life felt a little strangely confusing, a bit too symbolic in the way it was told that I still can't figure out if it made sense. Everything else was cohesive and understandable though.

@undericio @LorX0X Though to be fair my issues are directed to people saying it has no story or it was super complicated and way too hard to follow. It's also not super duper directly laid out so

@undericio @LorX0X I didn't. I knew of the existence of a company called Async that explores the place and I watched the first 2 videos when they first released (which was about 4 years ago)

@bisson_mark @J0NATH0NBR00KS I didn't watch the youtube series either and I gotta admit the first time Clark goes in to explore the complex does feel kinda slow. But luckily after that I thought it picked up the pace pretty well

@J0NATH0NBR00KS @BrainDamageReal I liked the film. But as someone who wasn’t a fan of his YouTube series, it’s just too slow in the beginning. I love slow burns, but the pacing wasn’t good. Maybe I felt that because I was drinking a redbull 🤷‍♂️ I’m gonna watch it again so hopefully I’ll change my mind

@straightgolden I keep getting replies like this. I'm perfectly fine accepting people don't like the movie. I'm not trying to convert people here. Just saying, it does have a cohesive story and the people adamantly saying it doesn't need to pay more attention when they watch movies

@acy16v This is more my gripes with people complaining about backrooms' story and saying it's either too complicated or just not there. Haven't watched obsession yet but from what I've seen it looks pretty good. Wasn't trying to diss it at all

@BrainDamageReal Obsession is also a cohesive story? I think more people just related to Obsession. I guarantee the people who didn't understand The Backrooms wouldn't understand Obsession either. Their both deep and thought provoking stories.

@eugetawaycar Estoy hablando de la gente que se queja de que la pelicula no tiene historia o que no se entiende nada. A mi personalmente me gusto pero se que a otras personas no, otras personas la van a odiar, y eso sinceramente no me molesta

@kezottle @LorX0X It probably could've worked without them but from what I know they're pretty important in Kane's backrooms lore. Plus the idea of specialists and scientists dedicated to researching the complex being just as confused as a random woman who walked into it is pretty haunting

@BrainDamageReal @LorX0X —feels like the movie could've worked without them being involved (sorry also I just realized I said they were included at the end when they were hinted at throughout the whole thing) Idk I think I need to rewatch this movie lol

@kezottle @LorX0X I mean, the intro established there were guys in teams exploring the complex. I personally came into it with a really barebones understanding of Kane's take on the backrooms. Though to be fair I do think Mary's side of the story could've been fleshed out a lot more

@BrainDamageReal @LorX0X I mean I understood that but I think they mean more from a writing perspective cuz I was confused too, like it didn't feel like a well tied together arc for Mary and the ending with Async showing up makes sense if you know them already from the YouTube series but not as a new—

@LorX0X I mean, I thought it was pretty obvious? The movie tells you like 5 times the backrooms is a weird fucked up place that builds things from a skewered understanding of memory. You even see it recreate Clark's store. So at the end it remembers Mary and her demolished home
