In 2018, a total of 379,695 years of expected life were lost due to early death attributed to brain and other CNS tumors. The majority of these deaths (96%) were due to malignant tumors. For more statistics, please see: cbtrus.org/reports/ @NeuroOnc

There was a slight statistically significant decrease in incidence of malignant primary brain tumors from 2004-2017. Non-malignant brain tumors had statistically significant increases in incidence from 2004-2018, followed by a non-significant decrease from 2018-2022. @NeuroOnc

May 17 was Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) awareness day. This is a rare and lethal childhood cancer. Starting 2024, the pons site was made identifiable by US cancer registries allowing us to calculate incidence of DIPG. It's time to #DefeatDIPG. #GoGoldandGrayEveryDay
