This month, our @KSTP news team said goodbye to one of the very best - Brittney Ermon . She has a heart of gold. I will miss her so much, and at the same time, I'm very excited about what's ahead for my friend! 'Look back with a smile ... Go forward with courage.'

... when you accidentally warm up the wrong car and it's 21 degrees BELOW ZERO

Now, I'm recently learning many more important stories about my father's career ... Stories of my dad's strength, intelligence, wisdom, talents, stick-to-it-iveness ... & RESILIENCE ... I'm inspired.

Actual temp: 29 degrees *below* zero Temp, factoring in wind chill: -72 (National Weather Service changed wind chill measurements a couple of decades ago, but, still, bitter cold day... just like stretch of bitter cold us Minnesotans are entering, that we haven't seen in years)

Resilience: Thankful to my mom, dad, aunts, grandparents, godparents and trusted mentors for teaching me this. I knew the 'weather story' about my dad's 1st day of work at General Mills HQ in Minnesota. It was January of 1970.

So very special: being with my daughters, baking together, and afterward, while we ate, we talked about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s life and legacy ... remarkable seeing them listen to me, and, ask such wonderful questions.

Fast forward to 2026 ... this time around, I was in the news studio, sharing with you all, the remarkable MLK Day events happening in the Twin Cities ... and then, I went home to my family.

Pretty special ... a few days I was sent these images ... from almost a decade ago ... memories of when I was invited to co-emcee the MLK Day celebration at the Ordway in St. Paul.

Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board is hosting several events for Martin Luther King Jr. Day including performance at the MLK Recreation Center from 6:30-8pm. You can also participate in a city-wide food drive by dropping off any non-perishable food at any city recreation center.

In St. Paul this morning: The State of Minnesota's 40th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day celebration, at the Ordway. This year's theme: One Dream, One Minnesota: Echoes of Unity.
