At a rap battle I once saw a Black rapper choke a white rapper for using the N-word. Happened to be the same night as Malice at the Palace. Talked about it on the 8 Mile episode for Degen Cinema open.spotify.com/episode/6OJtO6…

/STATE OF GRACE/ (1990, Joanou, ***) A good movie that would be even better if it wasn’t trying so hard to be great. Watching it made my living room smell like cigarettes.

Ausar Thompson now ranks 2nd in our Defensive Impact metric, which weights Defensive EPM against Defensive Playmaking rates. Ausar Thompson EASILY causes the second most havoc in the league for each minute on the court. The Pistons are a different team with Ausar on the court.

sometimes you see that an older actor's in a new movie like "oh cool, nick nolte's still alive" and then you watch it and go "well maybe this is elder abuse or has a lot of debt"

"Steven Spielberg is not honest. I hate Spielberg, because none of his movies are honest. He hates Jews, because he is Jewish. He is fascist, because America is the centre of his world. If I can ki!! Spielberg, I will ki!! Spielberg." --- Alejandro Jodorowsky Full Excerpt: "Jodorowsky: I like Buñuel, because he was always honest. If he had limits, then he would make a limited picture. He always shot at his eye-level, he never put a shot up here, because he was limited, and he agreed to be limited. Bunuel is honest. I like pictures that are honest. Like some Hong Kong pictures — those filmmakers are honest thieves, they are making business, and they are so honest about it, it’s fantastic. But, say, Spielberg is not honest. I hate Spielberg, because none of his movies are honest. His violence is ill, it’s not honest. He shows an ill violence, as though he was the father of history. He hates Jews, because he is Jewish. He is making business with that, with Europe. He is fascist, because America is the centre of his world. If I can ki!! Spielberg, I will ki!! Spielberg. (...) Also, I love Cronenberg, because he is an auteur, he has his obsession. I like him. He is honest. There are a lot of moviemakers I like, and there are others I hate. But what I hate the most is Spielberg. And second Walt Disney. Interviewer: Didn’t you used to hate Walt Disney above all others? Jodorowsky: Yes. But now it’s Spielberg. I think Spielberg is the son from when Walt Disney f**ked Minnie Mouse. And then there was Spielberg." ("The Mole Man: Going Underground with Alejandro Jodorowsky", Damien Love, Bright Lights, 2008) In 2013, Jodorowsky said: "I always say Steven Spielberg is a degenerate, because he was the one who started this trend of making cinema a big spectacle and applauding special effects." ("The films I make go beyond entertainment: Jodorowsky", La Razón, 2013) Clip from: Duel (1971) Director: Steven Spielberg

Edgar Wright changed The Running Man's original ending because it was “too brutal”.   "In the original draft, we did do the thing where [SPOILER]," he tells Empire. "I don’t think I could have done it, even if it had been in the script."   Read more: empireonline.com/movies/news/ed…

Tightrope grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go. Gritty 80s detective sleaze meets neo-noir and straight-up giallo vibes. Black stocking mask? Home invasions? Head in the dryer? Pure creep factor. No Dirty Harry in sight. Just raw, frantic energy.

Had a lot of fun watching this via Prime. It's like witnessing the origins of the contemporary Thai action film, where stuntmen risk life and limb for the glory of a cool slo-mo shot. The late, great Panna Rittikrai was one of the best to ever do it.

Rewatching this great underrated horror movie: THE HITCHER [1986] Directed by Robert Harmon "A cult classic horror-thriller about a young man, Jim Halsey (C. Thomas Howell), who picks up a mysterious and menacing hitchhiker, John Ryder (Rutger Hauer), on a desert highway, only to become the target of a relentless, sadistic killer who frames him for a series of murders."
