NEW LAWSUIT: Asian-American mom suing Mayor Mamdani and Chancellor Samuels on the expansion of the Discovery program to NYC’s Specialized High Schools. Former mayor DeBlasio expanded the Discovery program (used to admit low inc students who missed the SHSAT cutoff) from 5% to 20%, with the goal of admitting more Black and Hispanic students. The significant increase in set asides for Discovery reduced the seats for standard admits, pushing up the scores needed for all Specialized High Schools. One individual has been arrested thus far, with several others to come. I thank Captain Rios and the men and women of the @NYPD104Pct Detective Squad for their work, and I look forward to seeing more arrests.

Over the weekend, I attended the Stuyvesant High School Parents Association gala. I’ve always supported the SHSAT and merit-based education, and schools like this are exactly why. We need more specialized high schools, especially one in Queens. That should be the goal.

I met with Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch today and made clear that what happened at 69th St & Eliot Ave, and the weekly assault on our quality of life, cannot continue. More cops are coming, and I won’t stop pushing until there’s real accountability.

The disgusting incident at 69th Street and Eliot Ave has now gone national, and we are not letting up. Those responsible must see real jail time, and our judges need to do their job and hold these criminals accountable. We’re tired of this.

I’m traveling across New York, meeting with sheriffs, police officers, and prosecutors to hear what’s really happening on the streets of the Empire State. New York’s “soft on crime” policies have become so well-known that we’re now importing crime from out of state. We need an Attorney General focused on prosecuting criminals—not promoting politics.

“The Charter Revision Commission must place open primaries on the ballot as a referendum.
