Clemson center Ryan Linthicum says his pro day was extra special because March 12 is also Ella Bresee’s birthday. She’s the younger sister of his former Clemson teammate Bryan Bresee. Ella died of cancer in 2022 at age 15. Linthicum: “I had a special angel looking over me today”

Last week, the Maryland General Assembly formally recognized schools who earned Maryland Blue Ribbon status this year. This includes Myersville Elementary School! Principal Dana Austin is pictured far left in this photo with the Blue Ribbon recipients.

Recently, four FCPS students had the opportunity to participate in the 2026 MMEA All-State Concert program under the direction of renowned conductor and composer, Carol Brittin Chambers. Inhoo Shin of Urbana High, Cade Suddith of Linganore High, Dustin Clark of Oakdale High, and Charlotte Felton of Middletown High were chosen to participate.

INCLEMENT WEATHER UPDATE: Due to inclement weather and the anticipated transition to snow overnight, Frederick County MD public schools and offices are opening 2 hours late Monday, February 23, 2026. This decision will be reevaluated by 7 a.m. Monday morning with an announcement by 7:30 a.m.  Morning PreK* and Career and Technology Center (CTC) start 2 hours late and dismiss 1 hour later than usual. PM PreK* starts 1 hour later than usual and dismisses at the regular time. PM CTC starts 40 minutes later than usual and dismisses at the regular time. Emergency personnel should take direction from their supervisor. For updates: fcps.org. *Except at FCPS charter schools, where pre-K classes are canceled.

From this exceptional group of educators, one nominee will be selected as the 2026–27 FCPS Teacher of the Year and will represent Frederick County in the Maryland Teacher of the Year program. This honor includes professional development opportunities throughout the year, recognition at a state-hosted banquet, collaboration with Teachers of the Year from across Maryland, and special recognition for the teacher’s home school.
