The trauma of growing up in poverty or just barely having enough to get by is something we really need to start talking more about. The chronic stress of those childhood experiences lives in the body.

In nearly 30 years as a professor, the meritocratic standards have been eroded in an astounding march toward mediocrity. Number of credits for a degree are constantly reduced; grade inflation is rampant; standardized tests are removed (even for graduate school). It is UNREAL.

It seems that the Memphis police force has been aggressively doing “diversity hiring” since 2020. So diversity—not white supremacy—is quite likely the real culprit in the #TyreNichols slaying. Affirmative action cops work out about as well as affirmative action pilots!

When we “lose it” over seemingly small things, it’s not about the present event. It’s our body going into fight or flight because it remembers the past.

When sex is treated not as an act of lifelong love that can bring sacred new life into the world, but as self centered and trivial momentary pleasure, we create a culture that demands abortion.

I didn't grow up having role models. I grew up having people I didn't want to be like and seeing situations I'd never want to be in. Not all of us are dealt the right cards, but that doesn't mean you can't reshuffle your deck for a better outcome.
