Best game of the season, at least 12 holy shit moments - Joker’s turnaround over Wemby in OT was bonkers. I’m never counting Denver out as a title team if Gordon is healthy, sorry.

@hymnduncan Don't forget Mitch actually has some incredible after timeout plays ready but wouldn't dare show any of them in the regular season.

500-IQ intentional loss by Coach Mitch Johnson 🧠 -Only played Carter Bryant 5 minutes when we desperately needed perimeter defense (minimized tape on him for opposing scouts before playoffs) -Choked lead on purpose to get overtime reps (good for playoff fatigue) -Zero offensive scheme in the final possessions of regulation and overtime (good experience for players to coach themselves) -Some much needed humbling for this young team

@DiamanteAyo I also didn't think they were focused on defense. Champ in particular kept giving his man open looks at 3.

@EricSal_7 Biyombo, Plumlee, and Olynyk are straight up unplayable so I love them embracing these small-ball lineups, especially with Kornet out.

This lineup of Steph- Ju - KJ - HB - Carter has been defending very well and pushing the pace at every successful defensive possession. That was one of most successful stints we’ve seen in sometime in the non-Vic minutes.

@BrandonSMM2 Yea Mitch small ball lineup works more than the double big lineup… double big lineup is too slow on defense

Mitch Johnson is figuring it out… small ball is the way to go for teams who like to play 5 out like the suns and warriors and consistently spam high pnr and DHO action

@LegionHoops It's fine to question SGA not being at the top, but the argument of "best player on best team" and "likely win another championship" are weak. Anybody seen the Spurs' numbers when Wemby is off the court? It's a regular season award so playoffs are just speculative and irrelevant.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander not being at the top of the NBA’s MVP rankings is so disrespectful. Say what you want about his play style, but he’s the best player on the best team in the NBA. The Thunder are likely going to win another championship this year, and it’s largely because of him. Remember all the noise when the Lakers won 9 straight games? OKC has won 12 straight. Let’s be real. SGA is the MVP… and it’s not even close.

@BrandonSMM2 @HPbasketball The greatest players throughout history if you rank them are basically solely based on their offense. We don’t immortalize “the best two way players ever.” And offense is more important than defense I’m sorry.

I want to be very clear about this: head to head considerations do not belong in MVP. it's the dumbest thing we do in the MVP conversation. It's so hyper contextual to lose all meaning. The early games count, the late games count. It all counts together.

If Victor Wembanyama is the transformational defensive player people describe him as, then that HAS to be a valid argument for him being MVP. (I still think it's Shai.) If you swapped the Raptors and Suns in the East/West, what happens in the playoffs? TEAMS OVER PLAYERS

@caSPUR Nah ur trippin. Not saying Raynaud isn't good, but Steinbach has a much higher ceiling. Yaxel could help, and even though we kinda already know who he's gonna be, he could probably help immediately. I also like Motiejus Krivas with the Jazz 2nd rounder. Great, great defender.

@BrandonSMM2 Steinbach reminds me of Raynaud but not as good. I gotta check out Haugh. And agree with you on Yaxel. Old but he is good

@caSPUR Just saw Thomas Haugh play and he looks like an interesting future piece. Hannes Steinbach would be ideal, but Hawks will need to lose some down the stretch or the Spurs might have to trade up a few spots to get him. Not a Yaxel fan due to his age, but I know some people are fans
