In typical Queensland style, when it rains, it pours, but here in central Queensland we're prepared for wet season with management plans in place for what we call ‘adverse weather’ – aka wild storms, tropical rain, and heat waves.

How did Bowen Rail Company transport their brand new locomotives from the Port of Townsville to the Carmichael Rail Network? Very, very carefully and with the help of some great local truck drivers.

In order to build the 200km Carmichael Rail Network (CRN), our rail contractor Martinus has had to utilise a number of different types of specialised rail equipment, including a track-laying machine, sleeper laying machine and ballast train. Great work Martinus!

Bravus Mining and Resources CEO David Boshoff was at the Carmichael Rail Network when the our rail contractor, Martinus Rail laid the ceremonial 'last sleeper' (a Queensland-made sleeper, of course).

To connect our mine to the existing rail network we have used over 25,000 tonnes of Australian made steel, shipped to the Port of Mackay and transported by road to site, then installed by our talented Carmichael Rail Network crew!

Our contractor Martinus sent us this amazing video of their ballast train in action on the Carmichael Rail Network. A ballast train is a specialised piece of equipment used to unload track ballast quickly, accurately and efficiently.

How's this for a before and after? The CRN balloon loop is really taking shape now. The balloon loop is like a giant U-turn... for a train. It means that coal trains arriving to collect coal at Carmichael, can easily change direction ready to take the product to the Port.
