I matched into plastic surgery at @UCI_PRS_Res!!! I am still in shock & am so thankful for my family & mentors! This journey has been incredibly tumultuous, but I am so grateful for every single hurdle. This first-gen student is a plastic surgeon 🥳 #Match2023 #MatchDay2023

@WomenSurgeons #AWSChat I think it is very important! The residents notice who is the most prepared and dedicated. The month you are rotating you want to show that you will be an amazing co-resident because you wont leave the team hanging even if you're tired and ready to go home.

@BreaWilley How important did you feel the "be there first, leave last" approach is?

@WomenSurgeons #AWSChat #SuccessfulSubI A1: If you are still on rotations now pay attention to what the intern does. I.e. what do they on consults, what types of questions are they asking patients, language used in notes, how are they assessing the wounds, how are they presenting patients

Q1: How can 4th year medical students expect surgical Sub-Internships to be similar or different from 3rd year surgical clerkships/rotations? #AWSChat #SucessfulSubI

@WomenSurgeons #AWSChat A1: Sub-Is are different from clerkships as you are expected to know more about the procedures and essentially perform like an intern. It may sound scary but trust that you were prepared during your clerkships and don't be afraid to push yourself!
