
The President’s fiscal year 2027 budget request proposes cuts to programs including $15.5 billion to State Department and international programs that have broad bipartisan support, eliminating Food for Peace and the McGovern-Dole Food for Education Program, $4.3 billion to global health programs, and a $4.9 billion cut to USDA that would drop the WIC cash-value benefit from $50 per month to roughly $10–$13.
We are encouraged that members of Congress on both sides of the aisle have reaffirmed the importance of congressional oversight and the power of the purse. We look forward to working with appropriators on both sides of the aisle to ensure our nation’s commitment to ending hunger remains strong.
