🏆☘️Clover High School Set to Host Prestigious York County Cross Country Championships After 17-Year Hiatus☘️🏆
In a highly anticipated event, Clover High School is gearing up to host the 36th Annual York County Cross Country Championships on October 19th, marking a triumphant return after a 17-year hosting hiatus. The championship, featuring 11 county teams, promises to be one of the most significant sporting events in the school's recent history, made even more special by the debut of Clover's new cross country course and the introduction of an exciting new tradition.
☘️New Course Debut☘️
Coach Chris Young, in his third year at Clover High, shared his excitement about the new course: "We've been developing our cross country course for the past three years, and this championship marks its grand debut. It's a challenging and beautiful course that we believe will become a favorite among runners and spectators alike."
The new course isn't just a point of pride for the school; it's also expected to be a significant revenue generator. "Hosting events on our new course will bring in much-needed funds for our athletics program," Young explained. "This championship is our first big opportunity to showcase what we've built and set the stage for future events."
☘️Introducing the Catawba Cup: A New County Tradition🏆☘️
Adding to the excitement this year is the introduction of the Catawba Cup, a new tradition initiated by Clover High School for the York County Championships. This traveling trophy will be awarded to the team with the best combined score from the boys' and girls' varsity races.
"We're incredibly proud to introduce the Catawba Cup to our county," Coach Young announced. "This new tradition represents the pinnacle of cross country achievement in York County. It's not just about individual performance, but about the strength of a school's entire program. We at Clover believe this will foster an even greater sense of competition and camaraderie among our county schools."
The introduction of the Catawba Cup is seen as a significant contribution to the county's rich cross country legacy. "By creating this new award, we're hoping to elevate the importance of the county championships and create lasting memories for our athletes," Young added. "We're excited to see which team will claim it first and start their own legacy."
Fierce Competition Ahead
The championship will see 11 county teams vying for glory:
1. Catawba Ridge High School
2. Clover High School
3. Fort Mill High School
4. Lake Pointe Academy
5. Nation Ford High School
6. Northwestern High School
7. Riverwalk Academy
8. Rock Hill High School
9. South Pointe High School
10. York County Homeschool
11. York Prep
"The level of competition this year is unprecedented," remarked Coach Young. "We have five boys' and girls' teams ranked among the top in the state, with Fort Mill holding the number one spot in both divisions. It's a testament to the strength of our county's running programs."

The elementary and middle school cross country season officially concluded today at the Ryan Snellen Bruin XC Rumble. This race started of my 1st year of coaching, so it's particularly special to me. I was able to collect my 9th Ryan Snellen shirt. Thank you @CHHSXC for hosting.

I can’t like this post enough. One of the best in the business giving out great advice. If you haven’t started, start now!

HS/college runners: tomorrow is time to get down to business. September is 8 wks away. You have time to lay down a base if you start now. Keep making excuses about heat, work, family vacations & all the sudden, you're out of time & will never catch up. No more excuses. Start now.
