Did you know that nearly 60% of home fire deaths occur in homes without a working smoke alarm? As we spring forward this Sunday and set our clocks one hour ahead, check your smoke detector batteries as well.

It's that time of the year again: Change your clocks & Change your smoke detector batteries!

On this day 120 years ago, 24 men gathered for the first time as The Bremerton Fire Department. Much has changed in the department and the city in those 120 years, but one thing remains the same: We are proud to serve as members of the BFD and be a part of the City of Bremerton.

As of the end of May, the Bremerton Fire Department has responded to 4,181 calls for emergency service. This is a 16.76% increase from the same time frame in 2021. Proud to serve.

THANK YOU to all of the nurses of Kitsap County and across the United States on this nurse appreciation week. These last few years have reminded us of just how amazing you all are. BFD is proud to be part of the medical team and to work with such amazing medical professionals!

We are so grateful to have Sarah Tassano as our Administrative Assistant. On this Administrative Professionals Day we thank her and honor her for the important work she does for the BFD and the entire Bremerton community!

The BFD is happy to welcome Firefighter Anthony "AJ" Jennings to the family. AJ grew up in Tacoma and attended Eastern Washington University where he studied Counseling & Psychology with an emphasis on child development. He was also a star pitcher on the EWU baseball team.

The BFD is excited to welcome Firefighter Tony Slauson to the family. Tony grew up in SoCal, and went to college at WSU where he studied Civil Engineering. Tony loves to cook, and along with his girlfriend and 2 dogs loves to be outdoors, physically active, and around his family.

The BFD is excited to welcome Ross Fryberg to the family. Ross grew up in the Snohomish County area and attended UW where he studied Computer Science & Criminal Justice. Ross and his wife along with their 4 children love to travel and attend Seattle sports events.

Capt. Ricardo Valdez was interviewed today by KOMO news anchor Eric Johnson for an upcoming episode of "Eric's Heros". Capt. Valdez lead the crew that fixed and raised a new American flag for a dying veteran at Cascades of Bremerton. Proud to be part of Bremerton.#komonews

Happy 5-year anniversary to our Senior Administrative Assistant Sarah Tassano! Not all hero's wear uniforms, and you are a daily hero to us. Thank you for helping us move forward in all that we do and for keeping us on track as go!

The Bremerton Fire Department is excited to welcome Firefighter/Paramedic Matt Villwock to the BFD family. Matt is a Puyallup native who graduated from Central Washington University. Matt's first day was valentines day, which seems appropriate as we are loving him already!

BFD responded to 989 emergencies in the City this January, which is up 40.68% from January 2021. If you include mutual aid responses, BFD answered 1153 emergency calls. Here to serve and here to help.

While the BFD loves to see you, lets not meet because of a fire due to lint build-up. Make sure you clean your lint filters as well as the exhaust tubing! Be Smart & Be Safe!
