@OpenAI I had been using ChatGPT Plus to help learn to to code and write scripts. I've cancelled my subscription today after your deal with the Pentagon. I am concerned and no longer trust that you won't cross the simple red lines your competitors refused to cross.

The Dems should keep making "passing the torch" their thing. I think it's a more emotionally compelling narrative for the progressive worldview than incumbency.

The American Robin.

When I woke up, I heard a chorus of those same urgent calls just outside my open window. Okay now, what ARE they? Still half asleep, I managed to find my phone and Merlin’d it again for real...

Here is a brief story you probably won’t care about unless you care about ornithology and/or other people’s dreams.

…these turkey-sized monsters, gray-black feathers and confusing chanterelle-like faces—orangey folds with no discernible beak. One of them was perched on a branch right above me, slowly cocking its head, glaring down with beady yellow eyes.

This time, the app was certain: “Gusabird.” I read it clearly. It came back with a little picture and everything. And then I saw them in up the trees…

(In the dream, yes, which is weird; usually I can’t operate technology or read screens in dreams.) At first the app guessed it was a duck. 🦆 Which it clearly wasn’t! So I asked Merlin to listen again...

It was a three note sequence, melodic but urgent—with three or four birds echoing the song in conversation. So I pulled out my phone and scanned the sound with my trusty @MerlinBirdID app.

In my dream this morning, I was hanging outside my high school, as you do sometimes in dreams—at night for some reason—and became aware of a distinct bird call I didn’t recognize...
