i knew a woman like this who had her own apartment, paid her own bills, drove her own car and never had to call anyone for financial help. one day, i intentionally asked her, what do you need a man for? she smiled and said... need and want are two different things, that she didn’t want a man to survive, she just wanted one to share peace, loyalty, laughter and a life that felt lighter together. for her, love was never about rescue, it was about partnership a man wasn’t supposed to be a provider she depended on but a companion who added value where money couldn’t reach cos comfort can pay the bills yes but comfort can’t hug you after a hard day, build memories with you or grow old beside you. so do you understand now why you still need a man as a woman regardless of your status and achievements?

Yes, maternal health as a whole is important & yes, our healthcare industry should ensure that women are less likely to die as a result of pregnancy & childbirth but Black women are dying at alarming rates & a solution that would help white women isn’t gonna work for Black women!

The idea that public health issues/solutions should be all inclusive dismisses the data that proves a population of people is more affected than others. To address such issues, solutions HAVE to be tailored and targeted to said populations!

Once you harm the Black woman you can harm the black family as a whole‼️Black women have been impacted the most regarding loss of jobs this past yr & for years now have been the most likely to die when giving birth. This is a public health matter that shouldn’t be politicized!
