Before heading to Capitol Hill, NPPC experts briefed producers on key issues affecting U.S. pork, including the farm bill, Prop. 12, MAHA, trade, workforce, and more. Producers are ready to advocate for policies that safeguard the future of U.S. pork and its producers. #NPPCLAC

Producers are in DC, and their message is on the move. A patchwork of laws like Prop 12 is not workable. It raises costs, creates uncertainty, and shifts decisions from those who care for animals daily. Animal care should be guided by science, veterinary, and producer expertise.

Animal care should be guided by animal science and veterinary and pork producer expertise, grounded in the day-to-day care of animals, not one-size-fits-all mandates. Producers are on Capitol Hill advocating for a federal fix to prevent a patchwork of state mandates. #FixProp12

As producers meet with lawmakers this week, rising costs and regulatory uncertainty are putting pressure on family farms. MO producer Dean Rehmeier: “Prop. 12 and a patchwork of differing regulations will drive costs even higher for us.” A federal fix is needed to #FixProp12.
