Here's a life update on Jake Swallen, the former Wake Forest midfield maestro that turned professional with Sporting Kansas City II last year. After being released in January, he returned to his native Minnesota and he's carrying on his cool control, slick style and progressive passing for Minneapolis City SC. His skillset and experience at the six position will continue to be valuable as the Crows push for a playoff spot down the stretch. Off the pitch, Swallen has been filling in the time by working with strength and conditioning coaches and learning Japanese. Also with his degree in psychology, he has been working with children with autism — an admirable and productive way to spend the summer as he awaits his next opportunity. Top player.
