Personally I think if IS and Nintendo alternate between styles it works best. One big JRPG game in a more three houses style per generation as I doubt they’d sell well if done too often.

I think anyone who doesn’t see why Fortunes Weave is pulling from elements that Fe fans dislike from Three Houses misses why three houses worked for more casual audiences.

I actually am on the side that likes the pseudo-mmo combat and will be sad to see it go. But yes I think there is gonna be major gameplay shakeup. There’s a reason combat was completely absent from the reveal trailer.

@feathernull So I think some of those kinds of complaints bleed into the discussion more often than not. But I think if I’m steel manning zero haters, how Urobuchi writes and what he focuses on is very different from Nasu. Sort of the same reason old anime only Zero fans…

@RaiBread776 I don’t think there’s a right answer to that btw. I can see the merits of both approaches.

@RaiBread776 If you can’t say any of the entries made in the last decade and a half are representative of the franchise, n maybe the franchise itself no longer has the same core it once did. So it comes down to whether you want people to get into FE as it is today or as you played it.

I feel like most actual Fire Emblem fans agree Three Houses is a pretty bad starting point for the series due to not being a proper reflection of the rest of the series But am I the only one who also winces when people recommend Awakening as a starting point?

TLDR: Ignore the Twitter reactions and reactions to the reactions. There’s reasons to like and hate all of these games and we all need to learn to stop acting like people who like or dislike them are doing anything wrong by just forming an opinion on what they played.

It certainly Fire emblem and fire emblem is fun. But it seems hell bent on not getting me invested in the story and as someone who is very story motivated in long RPGs. I just don’t feel compelled to finish a playthrough as a result.

From a certain point of view I agree these are all good games. I certainly have ways I can play theme where I would enjoy myself but going through them I probably agree with Twitter on a number of things about them.
