AA/NA doesn't work for everybody & when someone relapses the narrative is that they didn't work the program good enough. In actuality the program itself may have been the problem for them. Blaming people creates shame and isolates them further in their addiction.
I've declined various media outlets to comment on Scotlands drug death figures today as we record another year of devastation as world leaders in drug deaths.
Here is my comment
Needless, preventable deaths, to the families, I'm so sorry your loved one is gone.
Please don’t envy me: you have no idea how many sleepless night, late nights, early mornings, wasted days, broken days, empty fridges, credit card debts, overdrafts, negative account balances, NO’s, rejections, tears, and broken hearts I’ve been through to get here... ❤️
@Bigg_Daddy_O@lokiscottishrap Beneath every behaviour there is a feeling and beneath every feeling there is a need. When we meet that need rather than focus on the behaviour, we begin to deal with the cause rather than the symptom.
@lokiscottishrap Zero clue of trauma informed practice. I can rather shamefully say I had similar ideas as a younger cop but my experience now working closely with parter agencies on addiction we can only solve addiction by treating the mental side not by locking folk up and demonising them.
@Drug_Science £200 for initial consultation

You're not exactly making it accessable to people who would benefit from this study!!

Current regulations require many people with SUD to go to a pharmacy everyday for their meds. No other health issue requires this. This isn’t normal. People can’t move forward when they’re chained to a clinic or pharmacy.
