BREAK: Understood that enough progress was made at the Johnson/Varadkar talks that there is now "the basis for renewed negotiations" between the UK and EU. Progress was made in three key areas - thought to be consent, customs and details of regulatory alignment. 1/

On day of @EmmandJDeSouza hearing relating to GFA British/Irish citizenship provisions, notable @NIOgov will still not confirm if Irish citizens per se in NI would get a vote in any Border Poll under the GFA, (or only if also considered British citizens):

Oddly neglected remain-return option - located squarely in GFA. Option of people's vote on this island to discuss how we might together solve some challenges (not all) facing this island in decades ahead. That would return region fully to protections available within EU.
