Last night Steve Machen attended a reception to celebrate St George's Day at 10 Downing Street on behalf of Scarborough Athletic.
SAFC Community Foundation Engagement Officer, Steve Machen said:
“I was immensely proud of representing our Club and our Community Foundation. Sir Kier Starmer highlighted in his keynote speech, the fantastic work that is being done in communities across the country and this is certainly true of our Club and Foundation not least our shared value of inclusion. We have much to feel good about and with the continued support of our amazing supporters we can go on and do much more and reach even further.
I would like to thank our Member of Parliament Alison Hume. Alison has been a staunch supporter both at home and in London highlighting the challenges that we have faced over the last season. Her invitation to such a prestigious event and allowing me to showcase our Club and our Town is something that will live long in my memory”.

En dan besluiten ze bij Olympique Marseille dat het logo anders moet. Wat een matige variant, het haalt al het onderscheidende eruit. Fans not amused, al was het huidige logo ook niet heel populair. Maar dit doet een roemruchte club als OM geen recht aan.

Last year after a listener vote, the Dutch football podcast @EersteBeste adopted Scarborough Athletic as their chosen UK club to support. Since then we have had hundreds of new member shareholders from the Netherlands join our 100% Fan Owned Club and join us on this journey! The @DutchSeadogs will be spending the weekend in Scarborough and coming to Bridlington to back the Boro! Interesting that in the Everton points deduction verdict the Premier League said “A financial penalty for a club that enjoys the support of a wealthy owner is not a sufficient penalty” and that “the requirements of deterrence, vindication of compliant clubs, and the protection of the integrity of the sport demand a sporting sanction in the form of a points deduction’.
Presumably the Chelsea fine (which ultimately is just a deduction from what billion dollar Clearlake will pay to billionaire Abramovich from the £150m held back at the deal date) is then neither punishment, a deterrent or protecting the integrity of the sport?
If I was an Everton or Forest fan would not be happy with this outcome.

David Lee joins us all the way from Hong Kong for tomorrow night's game, hear what he has to say:
"I first know about Scarborough from former player-manager Neil Redfearn, since Redders was one of my favourite players. I am a crazy football mad. Unlike the fans from Hong Kong, I never attempt any Premier League Giants!
I play in goal at Sunday League level for nearly 35 years, when I search on the internet I find the 2024/2025 season Scarborough Athletic Home Goalkeeper shirt and the Away shorts at a bargain price! I bought it and make my debut in a futsal match, kept a clean sheet and make couple of good saves! I tag the club on Instagram and the club re-tag me, saying I represent the Seadogs in Hong Kong - suddenly I feel I am part of the club, and I start support the Seadogs!
As this time, my annual holiday to Luton Town, added a new destination! I will come to the Kings Lynn Town and AFC Teflord United game, during my stay at Scarborough, not only to discover the coast, but I would love to play some Walking Football with the Scarborough Athletic fans too! I am looking forward to hopefully meeting Ryan Whitley and getting his signature."
