Feels like summer but it’s still Spring! Finally after a long cool spring we have a few fine warm days, soak it up and enjoy it but remember the sunscreen.

Common Frog (Rana temporaria) & Speckled Wood Butterfly (Pararge aegeria), The Burren Co.Clare 22-05-2026 Missed a shot of a Dingy Skipper, and no sighting of the Marsh Fritillary. @Butterfly_IE @BioDataCentre

After visiting my sister, we drove home through Carran, Gort, Loughrea and Ballinasloe before joining the M6. My wife's bird of the day sightings were 24+ Pied Wagtails (Motacilla alba yarrellii) all feeding on the local roads before we joined the motorway. Nothing Unusual 😊🤩

@AntrimLens I agree, pity we don't have enough hedgerows full of them. Like something I'd seen everywhere I went in Bulgaria, just not Hawthorn but Plum trees, and I mean Everywhere!!!

I don't know if it's just the Irish in me but I really love Hawthorn trees

Last for today; we were privileged to get eye-popping views of Krüper’s Nuthatch. We also saw plenty of Western Rock Nuthatch and Eurasian (Wood) Nuthatch, but these charismatic little stars were proper Lesvos show-stoppers. They’ll live long in the memory!
