As an FYI: I have repeatedly rejected the term ‘pro Israel’ because it implies being anti something else. I am, and always have been, in favour of a two-state solution and will forever maintain a hope for peace between Israel and Palestine as sovereign nations. Obviously I have strong ties to Israel which lends itself to pro-Israel bias, but I would argue I am no more biased than Irish journalists who present themselves as objective but are wildly biased (and in some cases virulently hateful) against Israel. As far as ‘pro-Israel’ commentators in this country go, I am by far the most left-wing amongst them: calling for a ceasefire/hostage deal since the beginning, vocally against West Bank occupation, and vehemently against the proposed death penalty bill. Therefore, the singular obsession with me above all these other commentators can only be attributed to a cocktail of misogyny and antisemitism. Indeed, in my view it is more the former than the latter, particularly given the sexualised nature of some of the attacks. I am categorically not a ‘pro-Israel influencer’. I am not paid by any government or organisation for what I write and, indeed, have never had any wish to be a public figure at all. I am a PhD student who loves to write and who feels compelled to use that love for good, whether that be in the area of sign language linguistics or combatting antisemitism. I follow deontological ethics and view this as a moral duty. If you like what I have to say, welcome! If you don’t, then noone is forcing you to read what I write. While criticism is welcomed, ad hominem attacks and physical threats are not. Further, I have every right to speak out publicly against anyone who engages such attacks and threats against me, particularly when I have never even commented on or interacted with them. If I have you blocked, that means your interactions with me crossed the line. I do not want any further communication. If you continue to regularly post about me, far and above the aforementioned other commentators, that is obsessive behaviour and deeply inappropriate. That’s everything. Love to you all 🤍

This is not uncommon. To this day, my heartfelt apologies go out to @gaakilbride for the day they asked me to do this for a club game, so I lined up the anthem on my phone only for Youtube ads to kick in with everyone ready fired up and ready to salute the tricolour.
