@toby00green @McCutcheonSays @DavidAstinWalsh I do this in my freshman writing class every semester. We have class in the library. To make them go to the library. We have an activity where I require them to go to the stacks. They have to check out a book. They have to read it to complete a worksheet. It blows their minds.

@DavidAstinWalsh A new assignment we introduced this year: go to the library, borrow a book, bring it to the seminar, and explain why it exemplifies the class for you. I offered tours of the book stacks to the students as preparation. Many did come. But it's a culture shock for them.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: it really is enraging that university libraries have stopped buying physical copies of books.

One thing I'm still working on is the later lunchtime. (In TX, 12:00 is standard lunch time; in the UK, 13:00 is the standard lunch time. This term I'm frequently lecturing at noon... which shouldn't be allowed.
