This X post from @AncestralEnq shows Newdigate House. Until 2024, the ground floor was occupied by the World Service Restaurant and the upper floors by the Nottingham Club. The restaurant then closed and the club moved to Freemasons Hall. Details at thenottinghamclub.com/about/ #Notts

The fascinating Newdigate House, Castle Gate, Nottingham which dates from circa 1675. Early Renaissance design with stucco with ashlar dressings & hipped slate roof. It was built for Thomas the younger, of Chilwell. Its most interesting resident was Camille d'Hostun, /1

This X post from April 2024 shows the riverside view at the Boathouse Café at Beeston Marina, just upstream from Nottingham on the River Trent. Next to Attenborough Nature Reserve, it is a lovely spot to visit in spring — and indeed at almost any time of the year. #Beeston #Notts

Both of the villages I have posted about today – Clifton and Wilford – are part of the City of Nottingham. They exist within the city boundary, surrounded by urban Nottingham, but both retain a village and even rural atmosphere. #Nottingham #Notts

#OTD 9 April 1984 - There was a mass picket at Babbington Colliery in Nottinghamshire during the year-long miners’ strike. As in earlier disputes, such as the 1926 strike, many Nottinghamshire pits remained working. Further details at the link. #Notts news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/d…

Clifton Village is a historic part of Clifton, a larger suburban area in the southern part of #Nottingham. The village retains a more traditional, quaint character compared to the modern estate that surrounds it. St Mary’s Church in the village has 12th century origins.

A nice picture of Clifton Hall from a few years ago. The hall is in Clifton Village. It sits on the bank of the River Trent, about 3.5 miles southwest of the historic centre of Nottingham and the other side of the river from the town of Beeston. #Nottingham #Clifton #Beeston

When Albert Einstein visited the University of Nottingham in 1930, delivering a lecture on unified field theory, he left behind a blackboard with his notations and signature. It is now a rare artefact preserved under glass in the University’s physics building. #Nottingham #Notts

A blackboard at Nottingham University in the U.K. stands as the only one of its kind to be known in the world that has both Albert Einstein's scientific notations and signature, a personal touch from one of the greatest minds in history. abcnews.link/Ezq0t6y

The Grade I listed Chatsworth House is a pleasant 35-minute drive from Nottingham. It was visited this time last year by the Japanese Ambassador, who is well worth following on X on account of his delightful posts. #Nottingham #Notts

The Waverley Building, featured in this 2020 X post, is a Grade II listed structure at NTU. Built in 1871, it showcases Victorian Gothic architecture with its ornate stonework and clock tower. Renowned artist Laura Knight was an early student at the #Nottingham School of Art.

🌟Did you know our Waverley Building has been home to the School of Art and Design since 1871 and was the first purpose-built art school in the country? 😍 We’re also sure it boasts as one of our prettiest buildings on campus! Which is your favourite?

#OTD, 3 April 2007 Princess Anne officially opened Nottingham’s newly revamped Old Market Square. The square had already existed as a public space for around a thousand years by that point. Video of BBC reporter speaking to crowd. youtu.be/3p1ZlGIvJu4?si… #Nottingham #Notts
