Humans are inherently sympathetic but not inherently moral, that is learned. The reason it’s taught is because it is something that benefits collective society.

On the other hand, many atrocities have been committed in the name of the Christianity, ie the Salem Witch trials. It’s nuanced but bottom line, morality is not inherently religious.
