One the Commission’s core remits is to promote the human rights of everyone in Northern Ireland. Over the past week, Commission staff engaged with several stakeholders and groups to promote human rights, including: 🟣 Rhyannon Blythe, our Director of Legal Services, spoke to law students at @qubschooloflaw about the work of the Commission, at an event also attended by @PhoenixLawHR 🟣 Michael Boyd OBE chaired a @CFNHRI meeting exploring sport and human rights, including the right for young people to access sport 🟣 We visited @monkstownboxing with Joe Lockley, CEO of @BrightStarBA, to share learning on using sport for education and community engagement 🟣 Éilis Haughey, Director of Human Rights after EU Withdrawal, spoke to students at Ulster University School of Law about policy and advice to government

Today we brought together NHRI colleagues, sport partners and practitioners for the CFNHRI Sport & Human Rights Workshop — exploring children’s rights in sport, UN guidance (CRC GC17), sport-for-change practice (@BrightStarBA and @GoTeamNI) and how NHRIs can support sporting bodies on inclusion, safeguarding and major-event risks. Over the last year we've worked with @CricketShrops to deliver our #SportingMaths programme to 16 schools. Over 80 parents and caregivers completed the 6-week course with KS2 arithmetic skills! Here's the group from St Luke's Catholic Primary School in their final session.
