In a conversation with us, Radek Sass talked about the two years he spent alongside one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. Aleksandra Wrona: How did it happen that you started working with Johnny Depp? Radosław Sass: I lived in England for over 25 years, where I worked as a head chef in many restaurants. In 2021, still during the pandemic, my wife and I decided to return to Poland, but in the meantime I got a job at Broughton Hall manor in Yorkshire. The manager of that place, through his connections, received a job offer from Johnny Depp, who was filming Jeanne du Barry (The King’s Mistress) in France at the time. He was supposed to take care of a large residence in the village of Montainville, about 40 minutes from Versailles. He asked me for just one thing: to drive a car from northern England to near Paris, because he didn’t feel confident driving on the other side of the road. I went without any plans and without expectations. Johnny was supposed to arrive a day or two later, and I didn’t assume at all that I would meet him. When his managers saw how large the property was, they decided more people would be needed to run the place and asked if I could stay. I agreed.
