@ackocher Whilst it is true that new immigration judges have been appointed, there has been a dramatic reduction in overall numbers under this administration (down to around 600 from 700). Since each judge can handle about 1000 cases per year, that is a bad policy with such a backlog.

This is part of a broader pattern. The Trump administration has appointed dozens of new immigration judges in its second term. Personnel decisions at EOIR are a direct mechanism for shaping case outcomes not just court administration.

The Trump administration just appointed a brand-new immigration judge (on the job for less than 3 months) to one of the most powerful positions overseeing the entire U.S. immigration court system. Here's why that matters. 🧵

@curtismorrison this is the case I mentioned. The applicant (not the poster of this tweet) will send you the info. The applicant is Turkish, and the CO said the 75 country pause didn't apply, but did not apply the DV pause. Pretty sure this is a mistake by the CO, or maybe not!

@BritSimonSays Did you see this DV approval from a Turkish Case in Macedonia?

@DTM254ME @PressSec JFC - you failed the reading test. Study the punctuation. The explanation is about newborn children of diplomats. Their parents have "diplomatic immunity" and are therefore not "subject to the jurisdiction...", so those babies were excluded. It really is that simple.

@Jay556051372411 Asylum is governed by international law. You can't limit people applying for asylum - obviously. But Biden limited entries using the CBP one app, Trump killed that. There was a Bipartisan bill that would have controlled and sped up asylum. Trump told GOP to kill that.

@BritSimonSays Open you computer and ask AI or Google.. "Is there any numerical limit on maximum number of asylum applications approved in a year?" . check yourself (I am not talking about refugees) .. You can imagine how wrong this can go for the country.

@LarrySwearinge5 @mitchellvii That is a totally different point. Whether someone is affected by laws in another country (if they go back there), has nothing to do with whether they are affected by our laws while they are here.

@BritSimonSays @mitchellvii As was argued before SCOTUS, a child born in the US to Iranian parents is an Iranian citizen & required to serve in the Iranian military per their law. Native Americans on a reservation are considered "Nations" & were excluded from birthright citizenship, nation had jurisdiction.

🇺🇸 Could this mean the END of BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP in this country? THE 14TH AMENDMENT WAS NEVER MEANT FOR THIS: The 14th Amendment says all persons born in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof are citizens. That JURISDICTION part matters. It was written after the Civil War to protect freed slaves, not to hand out citizenship to every kid born here to foreign parents who owe allegiance elsewhere. TRUMP IS FIGHTING BACK AT THE SUPREME COURT: President Trump is heading to the Supreme Court today for oral arguments on his executive order ending automatic birthright citizenship for children of illegal immigrants and temporary visa holders. Lower courts blocked it but now the highest court gets to fix this mess. First sitting president to attend arguments in person. THE REAL MISINTERPRETATION HAS TO END: For decades courts twisted the amendment to give instant citizenship to anyone born on US soil no matter what. That was never the original intent. Kids of diplomats, invading armies, or illegal entrants were never meant to get it. Trump is forcing the Court to read the actual words and history again so American citizenship means something real instead of a loophole for chain migration and anchor babies.

@Jay556051372411 How can I clear your understanding when you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about? There are limits. That is why there is a Visa Bulletin that shows how they control limits. There is a 7% rule. You just have a preferred narrative and no clue. Read something

@BritSimonSays But there has to be a limit on the influx. Thats the whole point of good administration and good immigration laws. (we dont want weak laws and weak lawmakers).

@Jay556051372411 "America is America..." WTF are you babbling about? We don't "import" people. They aren't fruit. And immigrants work harder and commit less crime than people born here. So - they improve the gene pool and make it more likely that America continues to thrive.

@BritSimonSays America is America because it is not like another third world country. If you keep importing people from another country unchecked, how will you have safer America. you dont want that to happen even in your dream.

@mitchellvii LOL - loses the argument so throws insults. Let me help with your example. That you are able to prosecute the guy who broke in your house is the proof of jurisdiction.

How can they be subject to the jurisdiction in the United States when their very presence here is illegal? It's like saying a guy who broke into your house is okay just so long as he doesn't steal your TV set. That he's in your house illegally is a crime. Typical small-minded liberal.

@mitchellvii "Generally speaking, non-citizens must follow American laws when on American soil, so they are “subject to the jurisdiction thereof” within the language of the Citizenship Clause." This is from Wong Kim Ark majority opinion. "overly broad and silly" huh.

@mitchellvii Well it might seem "overly broad and silly" to you because you want the meaning to fit exactly what Trump tells you to believe. But your very specific definition is NOT defined anywhere and the Supreme court already decided that it meant the "overly broad and silly" thing.
