Thanks, Grace! Always important to incorporate #ATSI perspectives into our learning. Kreative Koala's is another site that focuses on AUS in regards to #SDG14. It uses art + #multimedia to inspire the younger gen to reflect and act at a local level. kreativekoalas.com.au/about/index.ht…

An incredible resource that I will be embedding within my unit plan on 'Life Below Water'. This activity book focuses on what 'sea country' means to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples' and the traditional sustainable use of the sea. #SDG14 gbrmpa.gov.au/__data/assets/…

@BrittHunt Awesome resource to put into perspective the harsh reality of the future of plastic pollution. This would be a great discussion point for students to not only visualise the impacts but discuss how we can make a difference, could be used in the introduction for the plan!

@MissEddie_Educ This is a great idea! Making it localised and relevant to the community will make it even more engaging for the students. Perhaps they could do an excursion where they pick up rubbish from local parks and tally their finds to figure out their Top10 in the area?

@Miss_Jess_H I found a site that lists a range of activities to encourage recycling in the classroom. The one that stands out to me is the recycling rally where students can compete with other class's on who can recycle the most. Could be a good incentive! weareteachers.com/21-ideas-big-a…

This is also a great resource for teaching about #SDG12. Students can benefit from understanding how #recycling products and packaging goes hand-in-hand with consumption and production. What are some classroom activities we could use to encourage students to recycle? #uonteach
Brittany Hunt@BrittHunt

We talk a lot about recycling but do we talk enough about reusing? This video powerfully states the facts and truths about recycling which could prompt an insightful classroom discussion. What products do you use that are reusable? #UoNTeach #Educ4750 #SDG14

Just found this fantastic resource online that contains various interactive activities regarding taking action against plastic pollution. It also contains downloadable content for in-class worksheets to use in lessons! #UoNTeach #sdg14 exxpedition.com/8-games-activi…

#WWF states the alarming facts of #plasticpollution. How can we as teachers, help raise awareness of just how long plastic takes to decompose? Would it be beneficial for students to create solutions for the hardest to break down plastics? #Educ4750 #SDG14

The Clean Seas Campaign focuses on phasing out all single-use plastic in City-managed activities and events. In my unit of work, students will be supporting this organisation through developing #plastic clean up solutions for their local beach. #Educ4750 cleanseas.org/about

The Six Thinking Hats is a great pedagogical tool I will implement to optimise the learning outcomes in my uow. e.g. Students could use the green hat to research solutions for #plasticpollution while the black hat investigates the difficulties behind this solution. #Educ4750

@mauger_dylan You could use them in the classroom or even get into contact with the local council to see if students could present them around the area aswell! This would be exciting for students and creates real life connections. Thanks for sharing :)

I came across this creative sign in my home town. It’s great to see this around the community! We can use this example to recreate signs in the classroom to spread awareness of #SDG14 #UoNTeach #educ4750

#TerraCycle will then sort, shred, + melt the items down into plastic pellets to manufacture new products such as garden beds, park benches and even #playgrounds. For every kg sent, collectors will earn $1 towards the Australian school or #charity of their choice @TerraCycle

I researched and found 'Writing Instruments Recycling Program'. It is AUS based encourages schools to collect waste of used pens, markers + other writing tools to be recycled. You get a free shipping label when you fill a box/bin! #SDG14 #Educ4750 terracycle.com/en-AU/brigades…

I saw this at Erina Fair shopping centre over the weekend and loved it! What is something schools can focus on? (obviously not coffee cups). Perhaps pens or markers? Let me know what you think! It could lead to a design project that links with Science&Tech KLA. #SDG14 #Educ4750

@teacher12111767 I've never thought of doing this- what an awesome idea! What a fun, engaging and memorable lesson that would be. Is this something that is affordable for schools? Or would it be something students needed to pay for? Thanks for sharing!
