Several former @EmploymentHero staff came forward after my story on IWD to share their experiences at the company, describing it as a "vile workplace" with "shoddy HR practices" and a "fear culture". The full story is here capitalbrief.com/article/former…

Just how bad is Australia’s national debt problem? It’s been a topic of debate lately, especially in Canberra as the federal election looms, amid forecasts that total debt will hit $1 trillion by 2025/26. Jennifer Duke dived into the numbers and talked to top economists to get the real story 👇

"Recently media reports have published anonymous claims by former employees about cultural problems, rowdy offsite staff events and unexplained sackings." Keep it classy, AFR. Those media reports are here capitalbrief.com/topic/employme…

Our latest reporting on @EmploymentHero ... ""Management justifies it in typical Musk fashion, that we need to change and move fast,” said one former employee, referring to Tesla founder Elon Musk. “But nothing happens fast and very little of truly unique and differentiated value gets delivered because they don't have the attention span and patience to see anything through." capitalbrief.com/article/employ…

@benzino888 Good investigative business journalism has a cost. It's our business model.

Another interesting "take" from a founder.

@bronwen @EmploymentHero I was at a party where a girl who worked at Canva said the co was unethical for giving them free lunch instead of paying them more money. I reckon this sort of article is total yap people are unhinged and the people I do know that work there love it (men and women)

@bentkennedy @MrWillRichards @EmploymentHero Ben, I stand by my journalism. If you think your "anecdotal" evidence from friends stacks up against multiple verified accounts presented with evidence - good luck in with your pitch deck. 😂

@MrWillRichards @bronwen @EmploymentHero Which is a more wholistic view of the whole story. I don’t have a dog in this fight it’s in my best interest to not say anything but before someone reads a piece they need to understand the full story otherwise you have dumb situations like what happened to Kiki 2/2

@bentkennedy I am not embarrassed at all - you assume too much. Imagine not reading a detailed piece of reporting and having an opinion on what it says.

Once again, to save people from paying a $39 monthly subscription for Capital Brief, I’ll clarify my side of the story here on X. Don’t believe their sensationalist headlines crafted to drive clicks, controversy and subscriptions. I did not cancel International Women’s Day at Employment Hero. This is disinformation, and ACMA may want to investigate any reports to the contrary. Employment Hero operates according to “The EH Way.” The EH Way means we are: Mission First - Our mission is to make employment easier and more valuable for everyone. Remote First - We believe that by working remotely, we can be as inclusive as possible and access incredible talent from regional and remote areas, working parents, carers, and people living with disabilities. Apolitical - We believe work is where you come to work, not a place for politics or DEI agendas to be imposed. We also believe in a workplace meritocracy that recognises performance first, not gender. Additionally, with a team of 1,300 people across 19 different countries—each with unique ethnic, religious, and political landscapes—this approach is both simpler and more inclusive. I’m regularly told by employees that the EH Way is a refreshing shift from the corporate BS that’s been getting out of hand lately. Yes, I have some personal opinions that I share here on X, including some jokes, memes, and a belief in free speech. That’s my right as an individual, but at work, I stay laser-focused on achieving our mission. If you’re looking to work for a business with a meaningful mission, the ability to work remotely full-time, and a refreshingly simple, apolitical approach, then Employment Hero might be just the place for you.

Last week, Employment Hero CEO Ben Thompson made what he later described as a “bad dad joke” on X about Richard White. Women in tech see it more as a ”schoolboy dick joke" and believe it was a missed opportunity to address problems in the sector. capitalbrief.com/article/employ…
