Brown Sepoy of the Day is “Shivangi Acharya”.   Both the Indian and US governments denied the Reuters story, calling it fake news. Yet this isn't the first time Reuters has got India-related reporting wrong. Thread.

17. Reuters has a very high aim of maligning the image of India by spreading false news at the global level. Reuters has also smartly implanted their correspondents in India who share the same vision of spreading fake and misleading reports on India.

16. June 2025, Reuters's early Air India crash coverage leaned toward a pilot-error narrative before the investigation was complete. India's Supreme Court later called such reports "nasty," with Justice Surya Kant stating, "Nobody can blame him for anything."

15. Reuters also uses "Indian-administered Kashmir" in every single story about J&K, Pakistan's official diplomatic term for India's Union Territory.   Reuters's style guide still using Islamabad's language shows their journalism record.

14. The Rafale story relied on two unnamed US officials. Neither the Indian Air Force nor the Indian government was quoted. CDS Gen Anil Chauhan publicly called the claims "absolutely incorrect," and Dassault's CEO said no Rafale was shot down in combat.

12. Now Reuters's broader India record because Acharya's trade story is not an isolated failure. It is part of a documented pattern.

13. She protected China from the "Chinese virus" label. She protected a Chinese-funded outlet from "crackdown" framing. People like her are loyal towards their foreign masters who define the narrative framing for them.

Brown Sepoy of the day is “Niha Masih”.   🧵 She called COVID-19 the "Chinese virus" tweet racist and Operation Sindoor as a PR stunt. She consistently frames Hindus as the perpetrators and Muslim minority victimization as her sole agenda.
