"If you couldn't make it with the team that you were drafted with... and you had to go to somewhere else... to me that was a sign of failure." - Walter Payton (At 1:23 mark of link). Walter played on some bad Bears teams, gave the same effort every game. youtube.com/watch?v=h2ai8F…

While not blaming the current players for the consistent longevity of the disappointment, and always remembering all the great legends who've worn that Bears uniform..... (Walter Payton is the GOAT RB of all time and exemplified what many of us love about football.) Cheering for the Chicago Bears has been one of the least rewarding experiences anyone could ever ask for. That's the best way to put it. We foolishly get our hopes up for this team, every new regime, every new roster, every new coach, etc.... all in hopes THIS is the team that will finally "turn it around". It's not "turning around" ever. As a Bears fan the only promise this team delivers on is letting you down & smashing every possible shred of excitement you had for a football season. Sure, it's football, and there are much more important things in the world... but this has reached a level of absurdity that NO FAN should be expected to continually go through. But Bears fans go through it. Some factoids to hammer home how absolutely exasperating it is to cheer for the Bears: - The Chicago Bears haven't had a QB throw for over 3,900 yards in a season, in the team's history. (For reference, last year there were 9 QB's in the NFL who threw for 4,100 yards or more.) - The Packers have beat the Chicago Bears in 48 out of their last 63 games. That's right, the Bears have managed to win only 15 out of the past 63 games against the Packers. - The Bears have only 2 games in the team history where the starting QB threw for 400 yards, and that happened in 1962 with Sid Luckman (first in NFL history), and 1999 with Jim Miller. Don't get me wrong, you love to read about Sid Luckman's incredible career & how ahead of his time Sid Luckman was with the first 400 yard passing game, and how long his 28 touchdown record stood.... but what does that do for a fan wanting to be excited about the Bears after a 38 year championship drought? To put perspective on that, the Bears have only 2 games of 400 yards passing or more in the team's history.... but last year alone there were 11 games of 400 yards passing or more in the NFL. I mean, some teams are bad, but at least their QB will go out there and put up 400 yard games, and put on a show. We can't even get that! Now, hopefully Justin Fields can deliver that, but we're still sitting here HOPING it happens (from a passing perspective).... But once again here we are repeating the cycle of let-down, and the ultimate feeling of buyer's remorse.... after the Bears just LOST TO THE PACKERS AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'd like anyone within that Chicago Bears organization who receives a Chicago Bears paycheck to let us fans know why we should be excited about another year of watching the team get embarrassed by Green Bay????????????????????????? The Chicago Bears are the one team where you're guaranteed to get the awful Game of Thrones ending, without fail. If you love those types of endings, this is the team for you! Us Bears fans are essentially Washington Generals fans who've been sitting here for decades watching the Packers QB's dunk on the Bears like Harlem Globetrotters. Thanks for all the great let-downs!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You guys are so good at this!!!!!! Thanks for another let-down! And sell us on the process again!!!!!!!!!! So much fun!!!!!!!!!!!!! So rewarding to be your fan!!!!!!!!!!! Another loss to the Packers!!!!!!!!!! It's just so great to be a Bears fan, isn't it???????

Here's Rick Barry making underhanded free throws (5 of 5) as an announcer, in Chicago, in front of Jordan.... and he makes the final free throw with his eyes closed, in dress clothes. Best ABA FT shooter & 4th best NBA FT shooter... shot them underhanded (probably gets penalized all time for it too because the stylistic differences are too much, for some). Facts are facts though, Rick Barry was one of the best ever.

One of the more interesting factoids in the history of basketball is that the best ABA free throw shooter of all time, and the 4th best NBA free throw shooter of all time, shot the ball underhanded. The "granny shot". However someone feels about it stylistically, he made it work.
