Loch an Duin in the centre of Barra isn't exactly a magnet for ducks, even Tufted Duck largely avoids it these days, but this Long-tailed Duck was making itself at home today, the first I've seen there.

In his later years he loved his Bidston allotment on the Wirral. He wrote eloquently about those times but his voice was often heard on local BBC radio. His niece gave a wonderful eulogy at his funeral in North Wales. 4/6
